Cisco completes Astrix, SailPoint completes Entro

Event date

In short:On 29 June 2026, Cisco completed its acquisition of Astrix Security and SailPoint completed its acquisition of Entro. Both products are strongest at discovery and ownership. Both now sit inside larger companies, with no public price, which lowers their buying clarity scores in our review.

What happened?

Two acquisitions closed on the same day. Cisco completed its acquisition of Astrix Security. SailPoint completed its acquisition of Entro.

Both companies started in non-human identity. Both have moved into AI agents this year.

What does Astrix Security bring to Cisco?

Astrix scores highest of any platform on discovery, at ten out of ten. It uses four discovery methods. Those include AI platform integrations, NHI fingerprinting, EDR and browser sensors.

It maps every agent and MCP server to its accountable human owner. Its Agent Control Plane issues short-lived, just-in-time, scoped credentials. Policies are evaluated before an action executes, with allow, flag or block outcomes.

What we did not find was a gateway or a human approval step. Delegation chains are not described either.

Astrix scores 7.00 overall and shares fifth place with Cyera Identity.

What does Entro bring to SailPoint?

SailPoint Entro inventories agents and MCP servers across cloud, SaaS, SDLC and endpoints. It maps every agent, NHI and secret to an owner. It captures prompt sessions from Claude, Cursor and Gemini.

Just-in-time access runs through Agentic Access Administration. It offers granular action policies and session monitoring, but no gateway.

SailPoint Entro scores 6.35 overall and sits eighth. It is sold within SailPoint suites.

Why does it matter?

Discovery and ownership are where most companies start. You cannot govern agents you do not know about. Both products are strong there.

The question is what happens next. Inside a large company, a product can gain reach and lose focus. Pricing often disappears into suite bundles. Neither product publishes a price.

How do they rank for shadow agent cleanup?

Our shadow agent cleanup ranking weighs discovery and ownership heavily. There, Astrix Security shares first place with NewCore. SailPoint Entro places fourth, behind Silverfort.

For teams whose first job is finding and owning agents, both are worth a look.

What should buyers check?

Ask each how discovery results feed into control. Finding an agent is step one. Revoking its standing key or routing its calls through policy is step two.

Ask about the roadmap inside the new parent. Will the product stay standalone? Will it require the parent's other products?

For SailPoint customers, Entro inside an existing SailPoint suite may be the simplest path. For Cisco customers, ask how Astrix connects to Cisco's security stack.

Our read

These deals confirm that agent discovery is now a feature large vendors want to own. For buyers, the field has narrowed. Independent options remain, including NewCore, Aembit, Descope, Silverfort, Clutch Security and Token Security.
