What is secretless access?

In short:Secretless access means the agent never stores or sees a long-lived secret for the service it calls. A broker or gateway proves the agent's identity and injects a credential at request time. The agent's code and config contain nothing worth stealing, which shrinks the damage from a compromise.

How does it work?

A local proxy or gateway intercepts the call, authenticates the agent through workload identity and attaches a fresh credential.

What does it look like in practice?

Aembit describes secretless credential exchange, where the agent holds no key for the tools it reaches.
